They have been through a tough stretch and have played fairly well of late. They still have to play 3 with Yankees and 4 with Nationals this over the next 7 days but after that it gets easy. They have 88 games left to play going into today. 27 of those games are against the Mets and Marlins. 15 of those games are the Mets. They also have another 9 games against the Orioles and Padres. Another 4 games against the Reds but I'm discounting them because they are suddenly playing well. What does this all mean. The Phillies can win the NL East. The National League as a whole is mediocre this year. No one is playing .600 baseball. There are four teams in AL playing at that percentage. Not only can the Phillies win the NL East they can end up with the best record in the National League. The Braves have a much tougher schedule going forward. They have to play 3 with the Reds starting on Monday and now is not the time you want to play them. Followed by three series with the Cardinals, Yankees and Brewers on the road. Maybe the Cubs and Dodgers will get hot after the All-Star break and look like the teams to beat in the NL but should this trend continue don't be surprised if the Phillies are playing in the NLCS in October.
